(More customer reviews)I got this light to use with my porch lights which are on opposite sides of the door, not with flood lights like this was actually built for. Obviously, you have to pair this with the extra socket they sell. I figured a little DIY ingenuity would let me make this work. After all, it says that it uses the std phone jack plugs for connections... This is where the only misdirection comes in.
It actually uses RJ9-style phone jacks, which are only used for phone handset cords, not connecting to wall jacks, and that's only at one end of the wire, the other is permanently fixed to the socket. So the handfuls of std phone cable I had in my closet were useless. Instead, you have to use a coiled handset cord with a std RJ11 phone jack coupler, to make it work.
In the end, it accomplished my goals of adding a motion sensor light to your standard wall mounted porch lights, but it's not as clean an install as I wanted since the coiled handset line wasn't easy to find in the right length and color combo and I ended up having extra coil hanging where I couldn't hide it well. If you are looking to do this same type of project, you can use the handset cord untwisted and stapled down, just try to find the right length in your color first...
